I am Carole Caregiver
I am 48 years old and I would like to tell you about my testimony if it can help some of you.
It had been two years, before my operation, that I had dizziness later of the headache regularly, visit to the attending physician. For him, no concern, these are dizziness of Menière in view of his saying.
One evening I look to pick up a paper and get up, oh there, I see flashes above my shoulder for well five minutes. Go to the ophthalmologist for a look that has given nothing. Back with the doctor I explain everything to him, the more the fatigue that invaded me. I go back to work, and come back to the tidal words and flashes in the eyes. A colleague talks about it on the break in front of our service doctor. " Oh la la, carole you have to pass an MRI. It may be symptoms of brain tumor return to your doctor and tell him to prescribe an MRI and that it is I who tell you ".
And here I go, at my doctor. In addition, at times I had the impression of having moments of absence, in fact it was not an impression. MRI FOR AND THE VERDICT falls: " Madam must be returned to see your doctor and make an appointment with a surgeon neurologist, you will see with your attending physician, you have an occipital meningioma two centimeters out of three and the three sinks into your brain ".
Back at the attending physician who tells me it is nothing, a little grain of beauty, we will call Bordeaux. Still no work stoppage and here I am in Bordeaux in front of the neurosurgeon who asks me for my misadventures and who tells me that the flashes are in fact partial epilepsis attacks, that meningioma damages my brain.
He starts by telling me you are going to take Keppra (an antiepileptic) and a little corticosteroid. Prohibition to drive and there, I tell him "But I go to work how?" He replied: "Sorry you still work there !!" Yes, until a yesterday morning. He says to me "Well, I give you a month off and I work after the end of year celebrations".
Successful operation by Professor Vigne in Bordeaux. After six months, the Keppra stop, no more epilepsy crisis, good control MRI, regular control because it was an aggressive atypical meningioma.
It's been a year and a half I still have a few losses of memories, a small vision loss at the bottom right on the song of visions because the left occipital so right eye. I resumed my half-time work in May 2019 and again full-time since November2019. I asked to change service and go to a lighter service because too much fatigue, which brought me more memory loss and lack of concentration.
Voila, a little long testimony but can perhaps help some.
