Management of victims of the undesirable effects of progestinas: AMAVEA alert right to the High Authority for Health

This January 17, 2025, the AMAVEA exercised its right of alert with the High Authority for Health (HAS). Our request relates to the development of recommendations for the management of victims of serious undesirable effects of progestogens, drugs which can induce meningiomas (intracranial tumors).

Our AMAVEA association has more than 1000 members, seriously affected by this serious and complex iatrogenic effect. Thousands of women have developed meningiomas and millions consume these progestinic drugs proven at risk.

Since 2019, we have participated in the various works controlled by the ANSM aimed at establishing recommendations for using and monitoring progestins.

Our association also noted the difficulty for victims to be taken care of for this recent health problem, and very little known to the medical profession. There are many false beliefs on meningiomas, especially in gynecologists, and affect adapted care.

People would also need the management of their gynecological pathological (endometriosis for example), are often abandoned, and in suffering, moral and physical, important.

We therefore seek HAS today to develop recommendations for taking care of victims of the progestins demonstrated at risk of meningiomas.

It is also under the quality of care, the HAS of which is guaranteed, that we have this right of alert.
