Combined hormonal influence of cyproterone acetate and nomigestrol acetate on meningioma: a case report
Summary
Cyproterone acetate (ACP) is an anti -diandogenic drug that has recently been recognized as promoting the appearance and growth of intracranial meningiomas. Nomestrol- Lotényl acetate (Nomac) is a widely used progestogen-type drug that could be offered as an alternative to patients taking ACP. We report a case of meningioma linked to the ACP for which the ACP relay to the nomac has led to increased growth in the tumor and to stop the narrowing of the tumor induced by the nomac. We suggest that the nomac can have an effect similar to that of ACP on meningiomas. The use of the nomac to replace the ACP in the presence of a meningioma must be discouraged until new evidence is available on the role of the nomac in such cases.
