Our raison d'être
So we want in the long term, there are no more victims of hormonal treatments.
Amavea is an association to support each victim of Androcur, Lotéran and Lotényl. These three drugs can have as a side effect the development of tumors called meningiomas.
The association was approved by the Ministry of Solidarity and Health on July 8, 2020 (Official Journal)
The aim of the AMAVEA association is to support each victim suffering from meningioma that contacts us. Meningioma is a side effect of cyproterone acetate ( Androcur ), synthetic progestins and synthetic estrogens, such as chlormadinone ( luteran ) and nomestrol acetate ( Lotényl ).
All these treatments, without exception, are implicated in the occurrence of meningiomas. These intracranial tumors can be particularly dangerous. Thus, it is important to us to collect and disseminate any information on this subject.
Meningioma is often designated as a "benign" tumor . This scientific term hides a disease that is nothing benign. These tumors are complex to treat, sometimes require delicate surgical operations and long convalescences. This disease can upset the lives of affected people.
